Integral Education for Globl Responsibility
How can those in leading positions from different areas and cultures cooperate more effectively? The WASAN Project is an international project for the advancement and further training of young adults who wish to learn integrated thinking and cooperative behaviour and to put these skills into practice in their occupation and their voluntary work. The project starts from the presupposition that in the age of globalization humanity will be able to advance along a more peaceful path oriented towards sustainability only if as many individuals as possible know how to cooperate.
In 2002 committed young people, advisers and experts from various institutions and organizations in Germany, France, USA, Canada, India and Brazil began by considering what form “peace education” for young executives could take. It was shown that familiarity with integrated/systemic thinking, the acceptance of reciprocal responsibility, global awareness, open discussion and the elaboration of win-win-solutions were among the basic requirements.
From 2005 to 2008 selected participants from the areas of education, non-profit and business in nine different countries set out on an expedition to acquire and test these skills and techniques in various modules. The group members are still in contact with each other. A network has grown up within which the participants continue to exchange views and experience, pass on information about new developments and accompany them while they progress.
