How can western psychotherapy become established in an eastern country such as China?
The first Symposium for German-Chinese Psychotherapy took place over 20 years ago in Kunming, China. It resulted in an intensive cooperation, and an independent curriculum for psychotherapeutic training was developed and established in China. How was it possible for western psychotherapy to gain a firm foothold in an eastern country such as China? Which factors and obstacles played a part in the process, and which strategies were developed? What is the situation today and what further steps are envisaged?
In cooperation with the German-Chinese Academy for Psychotherapy the principal actors in this process are invited from Germany and China to Wasan Island in order to consider and evaluate these questions and to document their findings..
