Even the longest journey begins with the first step
The civil society needs many “workers for change” who gladly and enthusiastically accept responsibility and risk new departures. In order to win over others they must create a climate of acceptance, esteem and encouragement. Those who venture onto new ground, review their own enterprises self-critically and show staying power are “leaders”. The word leadership implies that these characteristics must be acquired and cultivated all one’s life. This requires models, self-knowledge, a system-theoretical background and appropriate training programmes.
