Complexity is the solution, not the problem

We are convinced that the problems of our day and age can only be solved if we dare to imagine the world of tomorrow as being radically different. Workable solutions will result only if those in politics, business and commerce, culture, research and the social sector work together to achieve them.

In order to involve all the actors in such processes, we need a functioning civil society in which people must be willing to participate, take pleasure in diversity and enthusiastically embrace democracy. Such a civil society utilizes various participation and communication models.

In addition to the present linear decision-making procedure, other complementary processes are required which respect and integrate people with many individual abilities and transform them into decision-makers.

An exemplary implementation of this vision is to be found in the citizens foundations. These are local platforms of the civil society: people come into contact with each other, agree on common goals and learn how to solve problems. This succeeds only when they concentrate on a common task and do not lose their way in the bureaucratic jungle.
